An intense rock band with extraordinary talent!

RAISE A SUILEN, often abbreviated as RAS, is a rock band from the Japanese multimedia project BanG Dream! . Originally formed as a backup band for a few of the project's other vocalists known as THE THIRD , RAISE A SUILEN became BanG Dream!'s sixth band in July of 2018. Though the band would perform live and receive appearances in the anime, they would not be officially implented into the mobile game, BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, until June of 2020.

RAS is made up of five members: LAYER (Wakana Rei), LOCK (Asahi Rokka), MASKING (Satou Masuki), PAREO (Nyubara Reona), and CHU² (Tamade Chiyu). They are portrayed by Raychell, Kohara Riko, Natsume, Kurachi Reo, and Tsugumi Risa respectively, in both voice and live performances.

RAS makes appearances in various forms of media. As mentioned previously, they appear as one of eight bands available in BanG Dream! Girls Band Party!, where a bulk of the band's story is told. In addition to this, they were the primary focus of season 3 of the original anime, after debuting in season 2. They have also received a manga, RAiSe! The story of my music, and a stage play, We are RAISE A SUILEN ~BanG Dream! The Stage~. The band regularly performs live and their discography is available on most major streaming platforms.

I first became aware of RAISE A SUILEN's existence shortly after I got into Bandori in 2020. I distinctly remember checking out the Fandom wiki for the first time as a EN server player and being immensely confused seeing Morfonica and RAISE A SUILEN in the list of bands. Sure, I probably had seen a couple of their songs in game, but I just assumed they were side characters with a few one-off songs, similar to Glitter*Green. I skimmed their wiki page, looked at the member's character pages, and I might have added Chu² to my Notes app kinlist. A couple weeks later, I got HELL! or HELL? in my YouTube recommendations and became immediately hooked.

My fascination with RAS only grew when I watched season 2 of the BanG Dream! anime; I found Rokka's character extremely endearing and enjoyed RAS' semi-antagonistic presence in PoPiPa's narrative. I fought for my life to pirate season 3 and binged it in a day or two between online classes. My love for RAS was absolutely soldified here, particularly by the latter half of the season. All five members were so endearing and had so much potential for future development in Garupa (and for me to project onto), and their relationships could be surprisingly complex at times. RAS (and Morfonica) walked so MyGo and Ave Mujica could run.

After finishing the anime, I knew I couldn't wait until they were added to the EN server. I made a Japanese Apple ID and downloaded the JP version of Garupa, shortly before RAISE A SUILEN ~Raise the Curtain~ Pt. 2 released. I would eventually start exclusively playing on my JP account, giving my EN account away to some random person on TikTok in early 2021.

To this day, RAISE A SUILEN is by far my favorite band in Bandori. I try to stay up-to-date on their story and while I'm not as interested in Bandori as I was in 2020-2022, not a day goes by without me thinking about them. Sometimes I feel embarrassed about being attached to an og7 Bandori band, as many people have either moved onto to AveMyGo, but RAS genuinely got me through one of the toughest periods of my life. Basically I am really autistic about RAISE A SUILEN.

I'm a bit autistic when it comes to maximizing and grinding in Garupa, and this is especially notable for RAS. I'd love to one day have every single one of their cards, but since I refuse to spend any actual money on this game and only pull on Dreamfes banners, it's not a top priority for me. I do, however, love trying to maximize my team comps and bonuses.

While I love all five members dearly, my favorites have always been LAYER and LOCK. Both of them were very integral to my life during the peak of my Bandori phase. Rokka's passion and care for those around her are so endearing, and in Garupa she has some of my favorite cards in the entire game. For better or for worse, Rei was really important to my identity for years. I used to get ragebaited by Bandori fans on the daily for having opinions about her I didn't like. I've written at least 20k words of fanfiction about her, most of which will likely stay locked in my vault forever. I used to be a toxic Masurei monoshipper. Needless to say I am now medicated.

I don't keep up with Bandori seiyuus as much as I did in 2021, but I'd still say Tsugumi Risa is my favorite of the live band. Her Bandori! TV segments were always so lively back when I watched those. I think I started watching clips from Revue Starlight seiyuu content because of her which is funny because I have never touched that series in my life outside of those.
